Fossil Preservation and Research
Decoding a 45 million year old crocodilian
We have recently been asked to help preserve and research fossilized remains of a Crocodyliform from the early Eocene, found near the Great Rann of Kutch.
This specimen is estimated to have been 8-10 meters, almost as large as a Sarcosuchus Imperator, with the head extending to almost 2 meters.
The species is currently indeterminate and further research is ongoing.
The fossils are currently on display at the Bharatiya Sanskruti Darshan Museum, near the Collector Office in Bhuj.
